| 07'International Invitation Competition for concept Design of Metropolitan Vehicle
In the 21th century, the changes of the shapes of modern vehicles are catching people's eyes. The prominent characteristics of big cities are big population, heavy traffic and overcommercialization which in turn result in serious air pollution and low efficiency of vehicles. Therefore, when people design the new vehicles, more importance has been attached to the vehicle system powered by the new energy. So, the new ideas about the design of the vehicles will be expected for the competition. It is preferred if the participant can focus his or her design on the common concern for the vehicles in the big cities; especially when he or she considers more from the perspective of new energy, the means of transportation, high efficiency, as well as how to improve people's living standard.
The competition is specially intended for students. Young people are designers and customers of future vehicle. As the future designers, they have responsibility and ability to come up with good ideas for the development of metropolitan vehicle, for the better environment in big cities. Taking part in the competition, they will have a chance to discuss with the international academic field about the morphometrics of metropolitan vehicle. They can meet the participants and experts at home and abroad, have chance to know international rules and participate in international communication. It is also a good chance for university students to improve professional knowledge and learn how to do design game in international environment.
The competition aims at solving some realistic problems, such as heavy traffic, clean energy powered vehicles and the concept of metropolitan vehicles system in the future. New designs and practical ideas will be welcomed for the competition.
Theme: 1. Design for fast speed and comforts. 2. Design for clean energy powered vehicles in big cities. 3. In future 20 years, concept design for the metropolitan vehicles system. Call for original design and feasible design which can solve practical problems.

Agenda for the Competition: Sept.30th, 2006¡«June.20th, 2007 First phase: Sept.30th, 2006¡«Dec.1th, 2006. Preliminary examination. Second phase: Dec.7th, 2006¡«June.20th, 2007. Final competition. 1. Application time: Start from Sept.20th, 2006. Participants can be either individual student or a team. The names of tutor, university, college, and department will be required when you apply. Please refer to the form below. 2. Deadline of preliminary examination: Dec.1th, 2006. Both manual graphics and computer graphics (including dimension graphics) are acceptable And brief introduction is necessary (in Chinese and English). Two copies of A1-size or one copy of A0-size, 300dpi is required, you can send E-mail or post CD. to us Organizing committee will get them printed. 3. Preliminary examination time: Dec. 7th, 2006- Dec. 20th, 2006. Notice: Final competition notice will be sent on Dec. 20th, 2006. 4. Those who receive the notice will participate in final competition and should prepare model on scale. Deadline of preliminary examination: In the notice of final competition. 5. Awarding ceremony time: June.20th, 2007. The awarding ceremony will be held in Beijing. Some of the participants will be invited to attend the awarding ceremony. Others will be responsible for their room and board. Place and time are in another notice.
Regulations: 1. This is an invitation competition,. Participants must be university students. (Bachelor, master, doctor). 2. The work should agree with themes with prospect and feasibility. 3. Works must be original and have not been published yet. Participants are responsible for their works' intellectual Property.
Prize: Special award: [1 person]. Award: [6 people]. Outstanding award: [20 people]. Shortlisted awards [some]. Organizing committee will award the prizes, souvenirs and certificates. Part of the winners will be invited to attend the awarding ceremony in Beijing.
